They used to give Disney movies "thumbs up" all the time but disagreed with a lot of other films (Ebert in my opinion wasn't as lighthearted). Was it a conspiracy? Apparently the show was (in part) property of the Mickey Monopoly. <br /><br />And even after Gene Siskel's death, I continued to follow Ebert's movie reviews for the Chicago Sun-times way into my years of college. Grad school hit not too long ago and suddenly he disappeared off the face of the earth for me. Oh wait, he didn't disappear; I fell underneath a rock. <br /><br />Anyway, Esquire magazine had the privilege of having this excellent <a href="http://www.esquire.com/print-this/roger-ebert-0310">interview here</a> with the Pulitzer-prize winning journalist. <br /><br />He had a thyroid malignancy and eventually and to get his mandible ("lower jaw")removed.
